NO.3 EAGLES TOP MOUNT MERCY JV

The third-ranked Kirkwood men's basketball team opened the 2021-22 campaign Monday night with a 77-66 victory over the Mount Mercy junior varsity at Johnson Hall.

The Eagles were led by a hot shooting performance by sophomore guard, Jaleque Dunson (Sioux City, IA), who went 5-8 from the three-point line and tallied 17 points on the night. Blake Brinkmeyer shot 8-for-9 from the field and netted 16 points.

Kirkwood had a strong performance from their frontcourt, led by Brinkmeyer (West Des Moines, IA) and Sophomore DaChaun Anderson (Chicago, IL) who transferred to Kirkwood from Highland CC (IL). Combined the two forwards went 15-17 from the field. Brinkmeyer ended the night with 16 points and 6 rebounds. While Anderson recorded his first double-double as an Eagle with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Another Eagle who shined tonight was Sophomore guard, Dante Eldridge (North Liberty, IA), who ran the helm at the point guard position. He controlled the pace and distributed the ball recording 9 assists on the night, to go along with 9 points. 
 
Noah King, Caleb Delzell and Joich Gong did not play for Kirkwood due to injuries. 

The Eagles next game will be at home against Black Hawk-Moline on November 10th in Johnson Hall.
