NO.13 KCC MEN SLAY DMACC FOR NO.1 SEED

BOONE - The Kirkwood men's basketball team tripped DMACC, 75-62, Wednesday night to earn the No. 1 seed for the regional tournament.
 
The 13th-ranked Eagles and eighth-ranked Bears tied for the ICCAC regular-season title with 13-3 records, but Kirkwood swept the season series from DMACC and was granted the No.1 seed for the regional.
 
The first two rounds of the NJCAA Region X1 tournament will be played at NIACC in Mason City this weekend. Kirkwood (21-7) will face Iowa Central (13-17) or Northeast Community College (5-22) in the
quarterfinals Saturday. The semifinals will be played Sunday in Mason City.
 
If Kirkwood wins both games this weekend, it will host the regional championship game on Thursday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Johnson Hall.
 
Dre Anderson popped in four 3-pointers and scored 16 points in the victory over DMACC, snapping the Bears' 12-game winning streak. Jaleque Dunson and DaChaun Anderson netted 12 points apiece. Cassius Brooks added 10 points.
 
Kirkwood pounded DMACC on the backboards, 44-31, with Blake Brinkmeyer grabbing 10 rebounds and DaChaun Anderson snaring 10.
