NO.1 EAGLES TOP BLACK HAWK IN THRILLER

DaChaun Anderson rescued the top-ranked Kirkwood Eagles Wednesday night.
 
Anderson made a three-point play with 3.9 seconds left in overtime to snap an 80-80 tie and lift the Eagles past Black Hawk College, 83-80,
in an exciting game at Johnson Hall.
 
Blake Brinkmeyer led Kirkwood (2-0) with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Jaleque Dunson hit three 3-pointers and contributed 14 points. Anderson finished with 13 points and nine rebounds. Dante Eldridge contributed 11 points and seven assists before fouling out in overtime.
 
Jacob Profit paced Black Hawk (2-1) with 25 points.
 
The game was tight throughout. Kirkwood enjoyed a 12-point lead with 7 1/2 minutes remaining, but Black Hawk rallied and tied the contest at 71-71 when Delaney Little scored with 1.1 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.
 
Kirkwood grabbed an 80-75 lead in overtime when Tolu Telli hit a 3-pointer with 1:10 remaining, but Black Hawk responded and tied the game at 80-80 on a 3-pointer by Profit with 12.2 seconds left.
 
Anderson made a strong drive to the basket, got fouled, made the layup and swished his free throw to provide the winning points. Black Hawk missed a desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer.
