NO.5 KCC MEN BITTEN BY TIGERS

The fifth-ranked Kirkwood men's basketball team was outscored by Marshalltown 25-7 during the last 10 minutes of the game Wednesday night and lost to the Tigers, 69-49, in a non-conference affair at Johnson Hall.

The Eagles pulled within 44-42 on a 3-pointer by Arthur Cox near the mid-point of the second half, but Marshalltown dominated the rest of the game and pulled away for an impressive 20-point victory.

Jaleque Dunson led the Eagles (6-2) with 15 points, but nobody else reached double figures for Kirkwood against a strong defensive opponent with excellent size. Dre Anderson made three 3-pointers for nine points.

Gedeon Shango and Rusmir Hamzic led Marshalltown (7-4) with 15 points apiece. David Roberts added 14 points.

Kirkwood was outscored 40-21 in the second half.

The Eagles look to bounce back this weekend as they travel to Council Bluffs for their first ICCAC Conference game against No.10 ranked Iowa Western Reivers (9-1). The games have been moved to Sunday, December 5. The women will tip at 12:00 pm and the men's game will follow at 2:00 pm.
