NO.5 KCC MEN DROP 3RD IN ROW
COUNCIL BLUFFS - The fifth-ranked Kirkwood men's basketball team dropped its third straight game Sunday with an 82-77 loss at10th-ranked Iowa Western.
The Eagles (6-3, 0-1) trailed by 16 points at halftime. They shot 68percent and outscored the Reivers 50-39 in the second half, but could not get over the top.
Freshman guard Cassius Brooks made 7-of-9 shots from the field and went 10-for-12 at the foul line to lead Kirkwood with 24 points off the bench. Blake Brinkmeyer scored 12 points for the Eagles. Caleb Delzell and DaChaun Anderson netted 10 points apiece.
Sean Black poured in 31 points for Iowa Western (10-1, 2-0).
Kirkwood hosts DMACC Wednesday night at 7:30. The Bears won the 2021 NJCAA Division II national title.
