NO.1 EAGLES TRIM IOWA WESTERN
COUNCIL BLUFFS - The top-ranked Kirkwood women's basketball team raised its perfect record to 9-0 Sunday with a 77-73 victory over10th-ranked Iowa Western in Council Bluffs.
The Eagles (9-0, 2-0) trailed, 68-67, with 4:37 remaining, but consecutive layups by Kortney Drake and Karsyn Stratton gave Kirkwoodthe lead for good.
Drake popped in four 3-pointers and led the Eagles with 18 points. Ashley Tull contributed 14 points and seven rebounds. Tasia Jordan had10 points and five rebounds off the bench.
Aleshia Jones scored 21 points for Iowa Western (4-4, 1-1).
Kirkwood hosts DMACC Wednesday at 5:30.
