NO.1 KCC WOMEN CRUISE IN REGIONAL OPENER
The top-ranked Kirkwood women's basketball team drubbed DMACC, 89-33, in the quarterfinals of the regional tournament at Johnson Hall Wednesday night.
The Eagles (30-1) will face NIACC (22-8) in the semifinals at Johnson Hall on Saturday at 1 p.m. Iowa Western (21-7) will meet Iowa Central (24-7) in the other semifinal at Johnson Hall at 3 p.m.
The championship game will be played Sunday at Kirkwood at 1 p.m., with the regional champion advancing to the NJCAA Division II national tournament.
Kortney Drake popped in four 3-pointers and led Kirkwood with 17 points. Alycia Patterson nailed five triples and scored 15 points. Ashley Tull finished with 14 points, nine rebounds, three blocks, three steals, and two assists in 17 minutes.
Kirkwood led, 32-6, after the first quarter.
