NO.1 KCC WOMEN ARE A DANDY DOZEN

EAST PEORIA, Ill. - The top-ranked Kirkwood women's basketball team raised its record to 12-0 Tuesday with an 80-54 victory over Black Hawk College in the opening round of the 40th Annual Illinois Central
Holiday Classic.

Kortney Drake and Ashley Tull popped in 18 points apiece for the Eagles, who were playing their first game in 18 days. Drake hit six 3-pointers and Tull grabbed nine rebounds. Tasia Jordan contributed 10 points and eight rebounds.

Kirkwood trailed, 18-17, after the first period, but the Eagles dominated Black Hawk 22-3 in the second quarter to take control of the game at 39-21. Drake nailed four of her 3-pointers in the second stanza.

Kirkwood will face Bryant & Stratton Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the semifinals. The championship game is set for Thursday.
