
#5 Kirkwood Flies High Over #3 DMACC
Cedar Rapids, IA- #5 Kirkwood takes down #3 DMACC at home!
Kirkwood defeated the DMACC Bears 70-53 on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles had a stellar performance from sophomore guard, Tate Petersen, who finished with 28 points, setting a new career-high as a Kirkwood Eagle. Traijan Sain contributed 12 points on his first game back from injury. James Spencer posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for the night, his first double-double of the season.
The Eagles put on a defensive clinic forcing the Bears to shoot a lackluster 17.4% from 3-point range and 32% from field goal range for the game. Kirkwood swatted away 8 shots in the game, and Lucas Lueth led with 5 of those blocks. Kirkwood won the rebound battle by +12 (39-27) with 14 of those being offensive rebounds giving the Eagles extra possessions to score it.
Kirkwood has another game making double-digit three-pointers for the game shooting 38.7% from the three-point line. Petersen connected on four for the game and a trifecta of players made a pair that being: Spencer, Sain, and Lueth. The Eagles made 12-31 for the game.
