
Kirkwood Wins Region 11 Championship
Cedar Rapids, IA- The Kirkwood Eagles are heading to the NJCAA DII National Tournament after securing the 2025 Region 11 Tournament title.
Lucas Lueth led the Eagles with 12 points and eight rebounds, while freshman Germaine Benson stepped up with 12 points off the bench. Colby Dolphin also provided a key boost off the bench, scoring 11 points and sealing the victory with clutch free throws. The Eagles' bench played a major role, contributing 32 points in the win.
Kirkwood maintained its aggressive approach, getting to the free-throw line 31 times and converting 21 of them, shooting 67.7% from the stripe. In contrast, the Tritons went 12-for-19, with the Eagles making more free throws than their opponents attempted. Dolphin was nearly perfect from the line, going 9-for-10.
Three Eagles earned All-Tournament Team honors—Lucas Lueth, Zach Erwin, and Traijan Sain. Sain was also named the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP).
With this victory, Kirkwood officially punches its ticket to the NJCAA DII National Tournament in Danville, IL. The Eagles will find out their seeding and first-round opponent during the Selection Show on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
