#2 Kirkwood Opens 2025 With a Win

Cedar Rapids, IA- #2 Eagles open 2025 with a win over the Western Iowa Tech Comets. Despite a slow start to the game the Eagles headed into the locker room at halftime up 32-21 over the Comets. The Eagles continued to push in the second half outscoring the Comets 40-28 in the second to take a 72-49 win.

Four Kirkwood players ended in double digits. The Eagles got to the charity stripe 40 times knocking down 27 of their free throws. Tate Petersen went 10-11 from the free throw line to lead the Eagles with 14 points. James Spencer finished with 11 points and 8 rebounds, Colby Dolphin and Traijan Sain finished with 10 a piece. 

Tate Petersen had an efficient afternoon finishing with 14 points, six rebounds, four assists, and five steals helping the Eagles to force 18 turnovers. The Eagles had a season-low in three-pointers, knocking down just three in the game. 

The Eagles are at home against Marshalltown Community College on Wednesday, January 8th at 7:30 pm.
