
Kirkwood Eagles Surge Past Kansas City, Advance to NJCAA DII Quarterfinals
Danville, IL- The No. 3 seed Kirkwood Eagles took on Kansas City Kansas Community College in the second round of the NJCAA DII National Tournament, and after a tight first half, the Eagles took over in the second to secure a 73-55 victory.
Kirkwood's bench played a key role, with Colby Dolphin leading the charge with 15 points, knocking down 5-of-9 from three-point range, including several clutch shots. Germaine Benson added 12 points, finishing as the team's second-leading scorer. Lucas Lueth was dominant on the boards, pulling down eight rebounds to help control the glass.
As a team, the Eagles shot an efficient 46% from the field and were nearly automatic from the free-throw line, hitting 17-of-19 attempts. Their strong second-half performance broke the game open, propelling them into thequarterfinals.
Next up, Kirkwood faces Macomb Community College tonight at 8 PM, looking to take one step closer to the Final Four.
