Kirkwood Defeats Illinois Central at Cougar Classic

Second-ranked Kirkwood completed a successful weekend winning their second game in two days, as they defeated the host team Illinois Central 86-60 Saturday afternoon at the Cougar Classic in Peoria, IL.
 
Kirkwood (4-0) & Illinois Central went back & forth in the first quarter, as the score was knotted up at 20-20 after a quarter of play.
 
The Eagles managed to get a little breathing room in the second quarter, as they held a 37-28 lead at halftime.
 
Kirkwood used a 25-4 run over the first 6:09 of the third quarter to take their largest lead at 62-32 with 4:51 remaining in the quarter.
 
Freshman Jenna Twedt scored 13 of her career-high 22 points in the run for the Eagles.
 
Sophomore Emily Dreckman matched her career high of 21 points on 5-7 shooting from beyond the three-point line.
 
Sophomore Demetria Prewitt also finished in double figures with 12 points and sophomore Kaylee Corbin added 11 points and finished with a game-high nine rebounds.
 
The Eagles' next game will be their home opener next Friday night at 7:30 pm, as they host Prairie State in the Kirkwood Classic.
