#1 Kirkwood Cruises Past DMACC

Top-ranked Kirkwood showed once again why they are one of top defensive teams in the nation on Saturday as they defeated DMACC 63-48 in Boone.

The Eagles (10-0 / 3-0) came into Saturday's contest tied for the 6th best defense in the nation allowing just 47.9 points per game.

Kirkwood never trailed in the game, as they jumped out early to an 8-0 lead midway through the first quarter.

After a sluggish first half offensively for both teams the Eagles held a 28-21 lead at halftime.

Kirkwood's offense picked up at the start of the third quarter, as freshman Jenna Twedt scored a quick five points in the first 2:30 of the quarter to help keep DMACC at bay.

Twedt finished with a game-high 16 points.

The Eagles' bench came alive in the second half, as they scored 17 points, led by freshmen Lizzy Puot (8 points) & Jariah Harris who scored 7 of her 13 points after halftime.

Harris, who finished in double figures for the second straight game, was joined by sophomore Kaylee Corbin who also finished with 13 points.

Kirkwood returns to action on Wednesday as they host Iowa Lakes at 5:30 pm in Johnson Hall.
