#1 Eagles Beat Southwestern at Home

Kirkwood improved to 9-0 (2-0 ICCAC) with a hard fought 63-49 victory over Southwestern Wednesday night at Johnson Hall.

The Eagles trailed 20-18 after a quarter, but the one constant in the program is their defense and that was evident throughout the game.

With their offense struggling to get going, Kirkwood's defense held Southwestern to just four points in the second quarter as they led 28-24 at halftime.

The second half saw Southwestern get within one point at 33-32 midway through the quarter, but Kirkwood answered with a 9-1 run to give them a 42-33 cushion heading into the fourth quarter.

Freshman Jariah Harris scored 11 of her career high 13 points in the fourth quarter to help get the Eagles offense going, as they outscored Southwestern 21-16 in the final quarter.

Sophomore Emily Dreckman led the Eagles with a game high 20 points, including 6-10 from three point range, & added 7 rebounds.

Freshman Jenna Twedt was the third Eagles player to finish in double figures with 11 points & career highs in rebounds (8) & assists (7).

Sophomore Ellie Etjen led the Eagles in rebounding with a career high 9 rebounds.

Kirkwood returns to action on Saturday, as they travel to Boone to take on DMACC at 1:00 pm.
