#2 Eagles Topple Tigers
Marshalltown, IA- Kirkwood improved to 28-2 (18-1 ICCAC) with a 77-31 victory on the road over Marshalltown on Saturday afternoon.
Plagued by a slow start and leading by just four points at 11-7 with 4:45 remaining in the first quarter the Eagles would close the quarter on a 15-2 run & take a 26-9 lead after a quarter.
Kirkwood amped their defense up in the second quarter, as they outscored the Tigers 24-3 in the quarter to take a 47-12 lead at halftime.
The Eagles continued to build on their lead in the second half as they cruised to the 77-31 victory.
Freshman Sam Veto led the way for the Eagles, as she scored a career-high 15 points off the bench on 5-8 shooting from three.
Freshman Lizzy Puot finished with 14 points & sophomore Demetria Prewitt also finished in double figures with 11 points.
Puot grabbed a game-high 8 rebounds, as Kirkwood dominated the boards, outrebounding Marshalltown 54-23, including 20 offensive rebounds.
Kirkwood wraps up the regular season on Wednesday night, as they host Ellsworth at 5:30 pm at Johnson Hall.
