#1 Eagles top Prairie State at Kirkwood Classic

Cedar Rapids, IA- Top-ranked Kirkwood jumped on top early & never trailed in their 80-57 victory over Prairie State Friday night in the Kirkwood Classic.
The Eagles (5-0) took a quick 7-0 lead just 1:16 into the game, however, as quickly as their offense excelled it also struggled. They only scored four points over the final 6:14 of the quarter to hold a 20-14 lead after a quarter of play.
Kirkwood would use an 18-4 run to increase their lead to 38-18 late in the second quarter. The Eagles led 44-25 at halftime.
The Eagles' struggles on offense continued in the third quarter, as Prairie State drew within nine points at 49-40 late in the third quarter.
Kirkwood righted the ship though in the final quarter as they earned the hard-fought victory.
Sophomore Kaylee Corbin led the Eagles in scoring with a career-high 21 points.
Sophomore Emily Dreckman added 13 points & freshman Jenna Twedt finished with 11.
