#4 Eagles Stifle Spartans on the Road

Creston, IA- Kirkwood led from the opening tip & never looked back in an 80-42 victory over Southwestern Wednesday night in Creston.

The Eagles (18-2 / 9-1 ICCAC) jumped on top of the Spartans as they opened the game with nine straight points in the first 2:32 to take a 9-0 lead.
 
Kirkwood extended its lead to 26-12 after a quarter of play.
 
In the second quarter, Southwestern climbed back into the game as they drew within six points at 31-25 with 3:45 remaining in the half.
 
The Eagles withstood the Spartans' run & held a 41-33 lead at halftime.
 
Kirkwood really amped up their defense in the third quarter, as they outscored Southwestern 31-1 to take a 72-34 lead heading into the final quarter of play.
 
Freshman Jenna Twedt led the Eagles in scoring with a game-high 26 points. Twedt finished 7-11 from three-point range.
 
Sophomore Demetria Prewitt had a solid all-around game finishing with 14 points, six rebounds & five assists.
 
Kirkwood continued its hot shooting from three-point range, as the Eagles reached double figures in made three-point field goals (11) for the second consecutive game.
 
The Eagles have made 26 three-point field goals over the last two games.
 
Kirkwood returns home on Saturday, as they host Iowa Central at 1:00 pm in Johnson Hall.
