NO.8 EAGLES NIP SPOON RIVER
The eighth-ranked Kirkwood men's basketball team rallied from a 17-point deficit and trimmed Spoon River, 62-61, in a non-conference game at Johnson Hall Monday night.
Justin Recker snapped a 61-61 tie with 12 seconds left with a free throw. Puolrah Gong preserved the victory when he blocked a shot in the final seconds.
Cassius Brooks led the Eagles (8-1) with 20 points. Ayouba Berthe contributed 14 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.
Noah King finished with nine points and seven assists for Kirkwood. Recker had eight points and eight rebounds.
The Eagles helped themselves by sinking 21 of 24 free throws. Brooks was 8-for-8.
Dwain Nash scored 17 points for Spoon River.
