NO.4 KCC MEN TRIM NO.8 ELLSWORTH

 
The fourth-ranked Kirkwood men's basketball team edged No. 8 Ellsworth in a tightly contested ICCAC game at Johnson Hall Wednesday night.
 
Justin Recker poured in 26 points and hit a clutch 3-pointer to hold off the Panthers with the game hanging in the balance. Recker made five 3-pointers and grabbed seven rebounds in 24 minutes off the bench.
 
Noah King scored 15 points and Cassius Brooks netted 13 as the Eagles raised their records to 14-3 overall and 4-2 in the conference. Brooks and Marcus Glover snared eight rebounds as Kirkwood snapped a two-game slide.
 
The Eagles outscored Ellsworth at the foul line, 25-8, with Brooks cashing 9 of 12.
 
Shawn Fulcher scored 19 points for Ellsworth (13-4, 3-3).
 
Kirkwood is back in action Saturday, with a road trip to Mason City playing ICCAC rival NIACC, 3 pm tip-off.
