Eagle Men's Basketball Grab One-Point Win

Eagle Men's Basketball Grab One-Point Win

In a top 25 dual for second place in the ICCAC, 2 rivals went toe-to-toe for 40 minutes and your Kirkwood Eagles emerged victorious.

It was a must-win game for Kirkwood as they headed into Boone to take on the Bears. It was sure to be a good game with it being Sophomore Night for DMACC and it being a black-out for the crowd. The Eagles felt like dressing up for the occasion by dawning the black threads for the game.

The Eagles saw contributions from a lot of players last night. Noah King continued his streak of domination by pouring in 22 points with 4 rebounds and 5 assists. Arthur Cox stepped up in a big way with Justin Recker and Marcus Glover in foul trouble by adding in 10 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal.

Late in the game with the lead dwindling for the Eagles, Marcus Glover returned to the floor and came up with a thunderous block off the glass that swallowed any hope left for the Bears. Joich Gong added a timely 3-pointer to give the Eagles some breathing room.

Jaron Crews hit a late 3 for DMACC to bring it within 1 with 3 seconds left where they fouled Noah King to send him to the line for 1-and-1. With the crowd making as much noise as possible, Noah missed it on the front end. With no timeouts left, DMACC had to throw a full-court prayer that was never answered – missing left.

The Eagles had spoiled the Sophomore Night for DMACC.

Kirkwood returns to the floor Saturday afternoon in Estherville to take on ICCAC leader, Iowa Lakes, at 3:30 with the top spot in the conference hanging in the balance.
