NO.9 KCC MEN FOILED IN OVERTIME

ESTHERVILLE - The ninth-ranked Kirkwood men's basketball team lost to No. 6 Iowa Lakes, 96-87, in overtime in the championship game of the regional tournament Saturday in Estherville.
 
The Eagles finished the season 25-7. Iowa Lakes, which played the game on its home court as the No. 1 seed, advances to the NJCAA Division II national tournament.
 
Jacob Runyan hit a 3-pointer for Kirkwood in the final seconds of the second half to force overtime, but the Lakers dominated the extra session 15-6.
 
Noah King and Ayouba Berthe led the Eagles with 21 points. Cassius Brooks and Arthur Cox scored 12 apiece. Justin Recker played only nine minutes and fouled out, denying the team one of its top players for most of the contest.
 
Creighton Morisch led Iowa Lakes with 25 points.
